Elke 2006 - 2017

Our beloved Elke passed away on Friday, September 1st. My husband and I were with her until the end.

Elke was a high-spirited, intelligent and loyal friend and she will be dearly missed by her human pack.

I'm so sorry. I know this pain. It's been almost two years and I'm still a mess.

Have a blessed day. ☺

Jan: We knew this was coming, too, and yes, it is still hard. We tried to prolong her life as long as we could. We had two vet offices working on her care and everyone at both of the offices concurred that nothing more could've been done for her.

My husband even built a dog wheelchair for her in case she were to need it, but it never got that far. She was still able to walk up until the very end.

Sandee: I know you know. The whole time you talked about Little Bit, I knew we'd soon be looking at the same situation with Elke. I don't think the loss ever goes away. We lost Dax in 2008 and we still miss her.

Glad you had such a wonderful companion, it's always tough when it ends no matter how it happens. They become family to our hearts. May you always cherish the memories of the time you shared!
I still miss my last cat, Mischief. She was my best friend for so long. Some folks don't understand the bond you develops over time, n how dear they are to you in your daily life.

Snaggle Tooth: That is so true. They become family and their passing hurts us greatly. I feel sorry for those who don't ever know the unconditional love a pet can give.

I'm SO sorry, Cube....we love them SO much and their loss is great.

I also want to say I'm praying for you in the wake of the hurricane and feel in my guts Florida will be better off than it looks right now....for what that's worth. Good luck, my friend. xx

So sorry. a fitting tribute to Elke. Great run, girl!

Z: Thank you for your kind words concerning Elke's passing. Her loss is great and it weighs heavily on all of us, especially our girls because they grew up with her.

Re: Hurricane Irma, from your lips (and guts) to God's ear. I hope all this worry will be for not much. My wish is that the current cold front pushes through S Florida and hits Irma turning her into a rain event instead of the monster she currently is. Except for boarding the windows, we have done all we can to prepare for the inevitable. Time will tell the tale.

DaBlade: Yes, the old girl did have a great run. Thanks for that.

Beautiful girl. They mean so much to us. It is so hard when they leave us and it never gets easier. So Sorry Cube.

cube said...

Kid: It never does get easier. Our memories of them are all we have in the end.

Some of them are going to be the first ones I look for in the afterlife, even before family and friends.

Kid: I hope they'll be there for us when we die. It won't be heaven without them too.

Agree of course.
