SUV Cat

This gray and white cat, renamed Miracle, traveled some 70 miles under an SUV as it whizzed along the Jersey Turnpike on Dec. 23rd.

The SUV's driver didn't know she was giving the kitten a ride until another motorist saw the tabby through a wheel well and flagged down the driver.

The cat was scared, his paws were burnt, one claw was missing and his fur was singed, but he was, otherwise, unharmed and is awaiting adoption.

It's possible that this may have also happened to our kitten, Psyche, because there has been no sign of her in the neighborhood since she ran out of the house 3 weeks ago. Cats don't just disappear.

We wish she'd come home, but, barring that, we hope she's OK and that someone is taking care of her.

I had wondered about Psyche, I'm sorry to hear she's not back.

Good luck with Psyche. When I was a kid we had a cat named Tiger who ran away from home for two months. He came home one morning and was found sitting on the front porch with all his whiskers missing on one side and another cat's claw stuck in the top of his head, but otherwise no worse for wear. Here's hoping Psyche gets bored and comes home, too.

We miss her, but we try to keep it in perspective... there is so much misery in the world, what's one little kitten in the scheme of things. Still, we were still hoping for a little Christmas miracle... hope springs eternal.

That poor kitty, and a lucky kitty at the same time.

I hope your cat is okay too.

Please cube, don't feel you can't be upset just because there's so much misery in the world. There will always be someone whose problems are worse than yours but that doesen't lessen your pain. When I had my fire, people were always apologizing for complaining to me since their stuff wasn't nearly as bad and I had to keep telling them, just because my problem seems worse doesn't invalidate the pain you're experiencing with yours. Sure, it's good to have perspective but Psyche is your baby! Of course you should be upset. Here's hoping Psyche comes back to you asap, healthy and safe.

That's too bad about your cat! It's painful when pets go astray, hopefully she'll find her way home.

I've heard that cats find refuge in the warm engines of cars on brisk mornings, so you might be correct. I've been told that you should give a little thud to the hood before starting the car to stir any animals that may be hanging out.

good luck!
