The Story Of Cats

The above nine pound cat looks like a fat domestic Maine Coon house cat, but you couldn't be more wrong. The Pallas cat is just one of the wonders of the cat world you'll discover while watching this two-part miniseries about the origin of cats.

The Story Of Cats

I watched Part One, Asia to Africa, on Saturday night and I found it to be an outstanding documentary about the origins of cats. No politics, just cats.

I can't wait to watch Part Two, Into The Americas.

If you have a cat, or have ever had a cat, or even if you're just curious about cats, this will give you new insights into cat behavior and it's definitely worth watching.

I'll never look at cats the same way.

A Fun Pop In Visit

This is the dog I would like to send to the house of the nasty ranter who yelled at a veteran and his service dog...

...with a large group of veterans as escorts, of course. :)

Who's Nasty?

Overreaction is an understatement when it comes to this woman. If you want to see the video, it's in the link. I don't want her nasty antics on The Blog:

Woman Screams At Veteran For Bringing Service Dog Into Restaurant - "It's Nasty"

Some people just don't know how to behave in public.

End Of A Mission

Cassini, The NASA Spacecraft That Expanded The Search For Life Beyond Earth, Dies In Saturn’s Sky

Cassini was the largest outerplanetary spacecraft ever built and performed its near-20 year mission in exemplary fashion.

I admit I was little sad to see it go *poof*.

UPDATE: A reminder that Cassini's launch on 10/15/97 was very controversial because it carried 72 pounds of Plutonium 238. There were many protests and much vocal opposition to the mission. You think they feel foolish today? Nah.

Still Here

Tampa got a lucky break yesterday.

Thank the Lord.

Nothing like a hurricane to make you forget your 35th anniversary. We were too busy staying alive to celebrate.

Hurricane Warning

Hurricane Irma batters Florida with catastrophic storm surge, wind and rain

Pray for us.

UPDATE: Went outside at 2:45 PM, it was raining and very breezy.

UPDATE: Went outside at 4:15 PM and it was raining harder & much breezier.

UPDATE: It's 830 PM and it's raining like crazy.

UPDATE: I went out at 11:30 pm and it was very breezy. I had to hold on. There was some rain

Boarded Up

We're boarded up and waiting for Hurricane Irma to strike.

God help us all.

I Heart Alicia

Alicia Colon writes another good piece...

OMG, Falling In Love With The President

I know the feeling.

Vogue

Have you seen this woman? Seriously? An unspeakable Eldritch horror says it all.

MEET THE ‘VOGUE’ WRITER WHO CRITICIZED FLOTUS’S SHOES IN HOUSTON [WARNING-GRAPHIC]

I know this news is a little late, but I just want it known that although there is a monster storm on it's way towards my state, I'm not in no way concerned about what our First Lady is going to wear on her feet when she comes to commiserate our losses.

Twit Is Short For Twitter

A mother can't voice her opposition to a teen magazine's article about anal sex without getting censored?

Say what? you say...

Twitter Bans Activist Mommy For Tweeting Her Dislike of Teen Vogue's Anal Sex Guide

I'm going to pursue this issue because I don't think Twitter has any business banning this woman's account just because they don't agree with her beliefs.

Where do they get off inflicting their intolerant ways onto the public at large?

Who made Twitter the moral arbiters of anything, much less what we, the people, think is acceptable in social media?

Twitter needs to un-ban Elizabeth Johnston's "The Activist Mommy" account because it isn't up to you them to pick sides on the political landscape.

Some Monsters ARE Real

Hurricane Irma Closes In On South Florida’s East Coast

As Floridians we are used to preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

Also, in trying times such as these, we run or we lay low.

Elke 2006 - 2017

Our beloved Elke passed away on Friday, September 1st. My husband and I were with her until the end.

Elke was a high-spirited, intelligent and loyal friend and she will be dearly missed by her human pack.

Elke's Puppuchino

We"re nearing the end of Ekle's days and many of her friends want to acknowledge her life in their own way.

R, a friend of our daughter has never had a dog but has grown very close to our German Shepherd, Elke. She is a barista at Starbucks and she made this special puppuchino for her.

She's a talented artist, don't you think?

Harvey The Hawk

By now you have all seen heart wrenching images of the devastation in the wake of Hurricane Harry on the South Texas coast. There have been many uplifting stories of rescues that are continuing as I write and, thank goodness, the rescues will continue to help those in need.

Here's a different rescue...

Take Cover! The Moment A Hawk Flew Into A Taxi And Refused To Get Out As Hurricane Harvey Barreled Towards Texas

I don't think the larger birds are as waterproof as the little ones, and this poor Cooper hawk was soaked and just found a dry place to stay until the Texas Wildlife Center picked it up.

The kind man who took care of Harry during the storm referred to him Sergeant Harry Hawk as he was taken away.

LV 426? no, not yet, but yes, I watched Alien:Covenant this weekend. Does it still show?

Fascism v Anti-Fascism

We all know who the real fascists are.

Eclipse Watching a la Cheap

You may be sick of hearing about the eclipse, but here's my low cost solution to watching today's total eclipse without fancy schmancy glasses that may not even protect your eyes...

Total Solar Eclipse 2017: How To Make A Pinhole Projector From A Cereal Box

This is how we used to watch total solar eclipses back in the Mesozoic era ;)

Don't worry, the hysteria will be over soon.

P.S. Baily's beads are the most fascinating part of this whole thing. They get so little attention.

Terry's Wind

Another excellent piece by Clarice Feldmen of the American Thinker:

Terry And The (Antifa) Bandits Will Inherit The Wind

Thugs are thugs no matter what radical side of the political spectrum their allegiance lies in reality or to whomever pays for it.

*chocking sounds*

Soros... just saying.

Redux

This is the only article I could find that opposes violence from both the left and the right.

David Horowitz: Charlottesville Is Biggest 'Fake News' Story of Summer

According to the MSM, the violence of those who back Black Lives Matter and Antifa isn't really violence, but merely a protest.

From the article by Mr. Horowitz: "The ideology that drives the left and divides our country is "identity politics" — the idea that the world consists of two groups — "people of color" who are guiltless and oppressed, and white people who are guilty and oppressors."

I'm sick of the press equating conservatives with white supremacists. We have nothing in common.

And then I found this:

Lou Dobbs Unleashed=> President Needs to Tell Media CEOs: “You Ignorant Sons a Bitch, You Need to Treat President With Respect”"

Yes.

Chili Generis

The Bloody San Antonio Origins Of Chili Con Carne

OK, the line "ranging from a proto-psychedelic, hyper-Catholic, Spanish/Mexican Indian tale about a teleporting, recipe-sharing Blue Nun; to another crediting California-bound gold prospectors; to others touting the efforts of Texas prison convicts and cowboys."

That line made me laugh out loud.

Who knew chili could be that fun.

Cat Blog Friday

For this Cat Blog Friday...

Shoshin, you're fired!

This was Shoshin's last day as my assistant. It just wasn't working out.

Boy, was she pissed.

Happy Friday everybody... well try to be happier than Shoshin.

UPDATE: For all of you who have asked, Shoshin is completely unaffected by her recent firing. In fact, she's happy to be free of the obligation.

My Assistant

I woke up with the worse sore throat I can remember, so I'm letting my assistant, Shoshin, take over. Refer all your comments and questions to her today. I'll be out by the pool hoping vitamin D helps my throat.

Truth?

A slow Sunday morning with coffee, but it's been quite busy for me on the internet...
